Elections Canada: In Contempt of Immigrants

I spent the last few weeks cramming to make an informed decision on who to vote for when I go to the polls on May 2. I must admit that I had been busy following the latest news in the Philippines and failed to keep up with Canadian politics. You see, it will be my first time to vote after being sworn in as a Canadian citizen last year.

Give to PNoy What Belongs to PNoy

"Give to Caesar what is his, that is, the money, and give your life to God," Leo Tolstoy wrote in his book, The Kingdom of God is Within You. It was his interpretation of the statement given by Jesus to the Pharisees who wanted to trap Him into saying something seditious at that time. The author of War and Peace and Anna Karenina knew too well the tendency of the government during his time to use the separation between the State and the Church to justify blind obedience and "corrupt its citizens." Fast forward, I say nothing has changed.

The Ombudsman's Obsolete

With a budget of P1.06 billion this year and an almost perfect score in corruption in the country, what else can you conclude about the Office of the Ombudsman from this equation?  I think it is everyone's opinion, without the need for any further investigation, that it is no longer in the business of anti-corruption, as it was meant to be. Radyo Bandido: The Voice of Edsa

I remember my late mother and her transistor radio constantly tuned in to Radio Veritas, the only independent radio station then. I was proud of her because it was hip back then to have access to underground information that carried some very ugly truth behind Marcos and his government. When the late Cardinal Jaime Sin went on the air to call all Filipinos to the streets, we were there in a few hours.

Buyers Beware: RH Bill P3 Billion

While the rest of the nation is busy taking sides in the debate between the individual's right to choose versus the Catholic Church's stand against artificial birth control, the House of Representatives is moving closer to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. After reading  The Consolidated RH Bill, I gather that discussions should be more in the practical sense. Let the buyer beware.
